I've been playing Morrowind for a few years now, and am finally getting around to doing a site. Morrowind is a fabulous game, and I've played it for several hundred hours.I am doing this site to allow me to put up a few mods I want to make available, and as a way of sharing my experience of Tamriel.

My current persona in the game is Autlandre, a Breton witch born under the sign of the Autronach. No, there are no "witches" as character classes, but that is what she is, nevertheless. She is a custom class char, mainly a magick wielder. She rarely bothers with physical weapons. She uses sneak, but not invisibility, and only uses chameleon when flying. (Damn cliff racers).

As can be seen, she doesn't really use armour, preferring to travel light, and as she developed, she used her increased abilities to carry less. She really doesn't carry anything other than the clothes on her back, her tanto, a robe and a bit of jewelry, a few lockpicks and her propylon indices. She is skilled enough to do without most enchanted objects, scrolls or potions.

for those interested, her face and body are from the Better Bodies mod, and the top she's wearing is an enchanted version of Shekarizza's Daedric Priestess top # 3. She's also wearing the boots from that set.

The top has been enchanted with Hircine's Blessing, and the Boots with both fortify speed and nighteye. Her gloves and Tanto are mods with the poweres of the Wraithguards and Keening. I didn't give them to her until she actuially had the various items, and then modded these items so she could use the game items without actually wearing armour.I don't really believe in uber items, or uber mods. They take the fun out of things. Her top is the equivalent of the Curaiss of the Saviour's Hide, and her boots are equivalent to the boots of blinding speed.

In that respect, Autlandre does not really do much enchanting or alchemy. It is too easy to disturb the balance of the game.

Autlandre is currently about level 45, and has finished the main quest and all the quests of the factions and of the expansion packs. She is currently wandering around doing random acts of kindness (mostly).

Black Orchid, a new trader

Black Orchid is a high level trader with 90,000 drakes. I don't do uber mods, but the tedium of trading with even the best traders in the game led me to create Black Orchid.

I find that as a character progresses to the point where they are killing Golden Saints and the ubiquitous Dremora who are in every Daedric shrine, we start picking up weapons that are worth 50,000 gold and more. When that happens, the only way to selling them properly is to sell them for a fraction of their price, drop them in the nearest box and forget about them, or leave them on corpses to disappear.

Selling them properly means selling them to traders who have, max, 10,000 gold, and generally much less than that. Creeper only has 5,000. They can be sold, but to sell a daedric battleax means buying 45,000 gold worth of stuff, selling the ax for 50,000, waiting for 24 hours and then selling some of the 45,000 worth of stuff back. This will take at least 10 days.

Most of my characters very quickly go beyond the need for sleep. The idea of spending a fortnight hanging around Caldera waiting for Creeper's money to regenerate is really tedious, and to me puts far too much emphasis on trading. It can become the major time investment in the game.

At the same time, once a person finds Creeper, they almost always go directly from the ship at Seyda Neen, to Balmora, and then to Caldera, even though there is no justification for this in the game.

For that reason, I don't say where Black Orchid is located, other than that the is in the SE quarter of Vvardenfall, a relatively deserted region. Hopefully, she will be stumbled upon after a character has reached higher levels.

One thing I will let on, if that as well as a trader, she also offers teleportation services to locations like Azura's Shrine (twilights are servants of Azura), Suran, and the Grazelands. If "mark" is cast on her location, she is also the closest easily reached point to Tel Uvarith.

I have tried to create a high level trader with nine times the cash of Mudcrab. She is in a remote place, not easy to find. She also will teleport customers, though her destinations relate more to her alignment with the Goddess Azura and with the Telvanni. A Divine Intervention spell will take her clients back to Wolverine Hall.

She is simply a trader, and has no uber item. She will not buy miscellaneous items, being uninterested in bottle deposits. She will buy books, being an educated woman. Personally, I love getting close enough to a twilight to really appreciate their looks.

The Black Orchid Trader mod is available from Morrowind Summit.
